The 5 Best Jávea Spots for a Post-Session Ice Cream (Ranked by Toddler-Friendliness)
When people think of ice cream in Jávea, they usually go straight to the obvious places. And honestly, I get it. But if you look a little beyond the standard tourist stops, there are some really lovely places worth discovering for a post-photo-session treat with the family.
As a family photographer, I’ve spent many summer evenings chasing golden light, sandy toddlers, and melting ice creams. So here are my personal favourite post-session ice cream spots in Jávea.
1. Bico de Xeado (Arenal)
Yes, it’s on the Arenal and yes, it gets busy in summer, but it’s truly artisanal ice cream with natural ingredients and using milk from their own farms, which gives it that incredibly creamy texture that immediately stands out.
The promenade also gives kids space to walk around after sitting still during a session, which is always a win. And really… there’s no point explaining Bico de Xeado without simply tasting what REAL ice cream tastes like 🍦
2. Helados Espí (Arenal)
A true local favourite. No fuss, no trendiness, just really good ice cream and that nostalgic summer-evening feeling. It’s relaxed, easy, and ideal for families with younger children who might already be reaching the end of their energy levels after photos.
3. El Gelaet de Pepe (Port Xàbia)
Right in the port next to Cine Jayan, this spot has such a lovely old-Jávea feeling. The port itself is perfect for a gentle evening stroll after your session, especially with toddlers who need some freedom to wander around safely and watching the boats and the evening light come into the harbour.
4. São Mediterrâneo (Port Xàbia)
One of the newest additions in the port area, and already such a beautiful spot. The atmosphere feels modern but still warm and Mediterranean, making it perfect for families who love aesthetic little places without losing that relaxed holiday feeling.
It’s the kind of place where parents secretly enjoy the stop just as much as the children do.
5. La Jijonenca (Arenal)
And finally, the classic. Since 1966, La Jijonenca has been part of summer evenings in Jávea for generations of families. There’s something comforting about ending a family session somewhere so timeless.
Honestly, family sessions and ice cream just belong together, don’t you think? The best photos usually happen after the “perfect posing” is over anyway when everyone is relaxed, messy, but fully in the moment.
